Why I'm Selling My Photos with Darkroom

I've come round to the idea that a photograph isn't really finished until it leaves the screen.

We spend so much time scrolling through compressed, backlit JPEGs on Instagram. But there is a massive difference between an image on a glowing phone and a physical print hanging on a wall.

That's why I've officially opened my Print Shop via Darkroom.com.

Finding the right physical feel

When I decided to start offering prints, I had a dilemma. I wanted the physical version of my photos to feel as analog and high-quality as the digital edits I work so hard on. I didn't want a cheap poster; I wanted something that would last a century.

I chose to work with Darkroom for a few specific reasons.

Traditional silver halide printing

For my standard professional prints, they use the Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Lustre. It is a traditional silver halide wet printing process rather than an inkjet spray, which gives the colors a depth and a fine-grain pebble texture that suits the film-inspired look I work toward.

Museum-grade fine art paper

For those who want something even more tactile, I'm offering Moab Entrada Bright Rag. It's a 100% cotton, acid-free, museum-grade matte paper. It's heavy (290gsm) and has a texture that makes the blacks feel deep and the highlights feel soft. It's exactly how I imagine a high-end gallery print should look.

They handle the logistics

I'm a photographer, but I also have a 9-5 job. I don't have plenty of time and I'm not a shipping expert. Darkroom handles the high-quality printing, secure packaging, and worldwide shipping, which leaves me the part I actually want to be doing: making images.

Bringing the work into your space

Whether it's a small 8x10 for your desk or a large, hand-made solid wood framed piece for your living room, these prints are archival, so they'll look just as good in 100 years as they do today.
