Overview
Proto V3 is an effects engine for DaVinci Resolve focused on distortion, glow, and color. It installs from a DRFX file that adds itself to Resolve's effects library, which drops the manual setup earlier versions needed.
The plugin comes with 25 presets and functions as a flexible effects engine where different looks are created by adjusting built-in controls rather than stacking separate effects. It offers two usage modes: a Generator version for standalone timeline use, and an Effect version applied directly to clips using edge detection.
Core customization is built around three pillars: Source controls (text, shapes, polygons, images, video, backgrounds, and Fusion inputs), Style controls (distortion, glow, color, and animation), and General/Effects controls. The dynamic UI adapts based on the selected source, making V3 significantly cleaner and more intuitive than V2.
