Sapphire is a suite of over 270 effects and transitions that Boris FX has sold into broadcast and film work for years. In DaVinci Resolve it installs as OpenFX, so the effects appear on the Edit and Color pages and render through Resolve Studio rather than the free build.
The library covers lighting looks like S_Glow and S_LensFlare, distortion and warp tools, film and grunge textures, and the S_Wipe and S_Dissolve transitions many editors keep coming back to. Each effect carries hundreds of starting presets, and the built-in Mocha planar tracker handles the masking and roto that complex shots need. A trial runs the full suite with a watermark so you can test it before the $495 license.

Verdict
Sapphire's reputation in broadcast and film is real, and the transition library alone justifies its use in professional pipelines. At $495 with a genuinely steep learning curve, it's a hard sell for anyone who isn't already billing clients for VFX work, and it won't run on Resolve Free at all.
