Overview

AudioDenoise uses machine learning to separate noise from dialogue, then removes it while keeping the voice intact. Instead of the frequency gates and spectral editing that older tools rely on, it runs a trained model that recognizes speech and pulls hum, hiss, wind, air conditioning, and background chatter out from behind it.

Inside DaVinci Resolve it loads as an OpenFX audio filter, so you drop it on a clip and hear the cleaned track during playback rather than exporting to a separate app. The main control is a single Remove Noise slider, with strength and frequency options underneath for tougher recordings. It runs on Resolve Free and Studio, on macOS and Windows, and a free trial lets you test it on your own footage before the $129 license.

Pros

  • AI engine preserves voice quality impressively well
  • Simple one-knob interface with advanced options hidden
  • Works as a Resolve OpenFX plugin

Cons

  • No Linux support
  • Can introduce artifacts on heavy noise
  • Subscription model available but perpetual is pricey

Verdict

The AI denoising genuinely holds up on moderate noise, dialogue stays natural instead of underwater. Push it on heavy location noise and you'll hear artifacts creep in, and the pricing is awkward: a subscription is available, but the perpetual license costs enough that casual users should try the trial first.
