Göktaş

Göktaş, a Turkish word for sky stone, runs on tension. The camera films the valleys of Cappadocia with two layers occupying the same frame. Mountains hang upside down above the ground. A figure wakes up inside the inversion and tries to find a way out.

The film treats double exposure, a process usually reserved for stills, as a moving image. Two takes share the frame, in time, and the result reads like a place that has come loose from its own gravity.

Shot with a small kit on a single prime lens, in monochrome at capture. The black and white look comes out of the camera body, not the grade. The double layer is built later in DaVinci Resolve, over footage that was already finished in Acros film simulation.
